... the land of plenty can't find a way to have homeless and hungry? There is absolutely no reason for America to have anyone go hungry, let alone be homeless. There should be enough abandoned buildings in this country near or in every community as a designated *corporate* shelter, fully staffed, to house those who are looking for jobs.
America discards enough food in one day to supply a year of relief to those in need. It's just a matter of creativity to figure out a way to channel this food in a manner that would preserve freshness and contain enough nutrients.
Too many duplications of this type of wonderful service, especially food pantries, are happening and no cohesive effort to consolidate those into a greater good, where the "whole is greater than the sum of it's parts."
Yes, someone would have be hard-hearted enough to keep out the panhandlers and riff-raff (or at least attempt to rehabilitate them).
If ever, America, could achieve the goal above, it would be the single greatest act of mankind ever known.
